Schwarzenegger Plays Santa in Man With The Bag
Man With The Bag
There are a lot of films that center around different tropes during the holiday season and Man With The Bag seems to want to play with action/adventure film tropes. Man With The Bag is set to be released by Amazon Prime on December 2, 2026, and features Arnold Schwarzenegger as the one and only Saint Nick.
Awkwafina plays an untraditional elf in the film, and Alan Ritchson plays a Christmas thief. The film will most likely pull in large audiences due to its early December release date, making it one of the larger releases during the 2026 holiday season.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: Santa Claus
With Schwarzenegger playing Santa Claus, the film instantly has unique types of production value. Most of Arnold’s career has been spent in action, and later comedy, films. Placing him in a lead Christmas role definitely pulls at a different part of his range.
A lot of depictions of Santa Claus pull at a more gentle side of Christmas, but with Arnold’s more adventurous side, a case could be made that he may pull at a more action packed side of Christmas, as well. Schwarzenegger has a long career of balancing action and comedy, which pulls at the potential for him to carry a more action packed and comedic Christmas film.
Having him at the lead pulls at a more younger and male audience which may not usually watch a Christmas film.
Accentuating Awkwafina’s Rogue Elf
The description suggests Awkwafina plays a rogue elf. Having an elf outside the standard supporting characters breaks from the expected formula.
A rogue elf creates dramatic and narrative uncertainty. Is she on Santa’s side? Is she working against him? Is she on her own? Comedy is expected in a Christmas movie and Awkwafina, with her background in comedy, can provide that.
With a rogue elf and a thief, the supporting characters break from the expected and allow for other means of advancing the plot, as well as other forms of humor.
Ritchson’s Thief
Another breaking character is Alan Ritchson’s thief. Ritchson can provide physical action and a male lead to offset Schwarzenegger’s more mature presence.
The nature of Ritchson’s character in relation to Santa is vague. It’s best to wait to see what the production team wants to reveal to ascertain how the two meet and what incites the conflict.
What is in fact revealed is the team creates an odd and unexpected trio for the Christmas movie canon.
Christmas on Prime, December 2026
The team hopes to capture the holiday audience by releasing the film on Prime Video in December 2026.
Streaming helps build holidays traditions, and Christmas movies are no exception. For families with young children, it is not uncommon to repeatedly watch Christmas movies throughout the month of December. As a new release, Prime Video subscribers can stream the movie without having to go to the theater first like other films.
Some members of the public may not use legal services to stream movies. Because of this, there is a chance people will use Pikashow APK, and other similar websites, to stream the movie. Prime Video will, of course, have the legal, and highest, quality stream of this movie.
What Is Still Unknown
It is unclear why or how the thief and elf become involved with Santa in this movie. It is also unclear why or how the events of the movie take place. It is possible this information is provided in the beginning of the movie, and is therefore covered in the spoiler alert.
It is unknown who, if any, the main cast will be beyond what has already been released. Because of this, it would be impossible to say who the main characters, if any, are or who the main antagonists are.
Future trailers and official promotional materials for the film must be more clear about the film’s narrative and tonal elements.
What Makes The Man With The Bag Unique
The major draw of the film is undoubtedly its unique cast. The concept of Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus is a fun idea in and of itself and furthermore the inclusion of Awkwafina and Ritchson (both of whom are consistently funny and action-oriented, respectively) adds additional layers to the film’s already enjoyable cast.
How Prime Video’s First Christmas-Themed Film Stacks Up
Traditionally, Prime Video has distributed more dramatic films. With The Man With The Bag, Prime Video’s first major Christmas release could be a fun departure from the countless sentimental Christmas films.
The Man With The Bag is Release Date Window Shopping
2026 is still quite a ways off, but Christmas-themed films have a solid track record of box office/streaming success. Due to the growing demand for holiday content, The Man With The Bag could be Prime Video’s most popular holiday release of 2026.
